I saw in Lisa's and other reviews that the Iconia A501 had lots of problems with playing HD video and with HDMI (wouldn't play on tv?)
I am just wondering if those problems were ever solved? Firmware? Software? Or does it still have the same problems?

Yes, it's still a problem for the A500 and A501. At this point, I don't have much hope it will be fixed unless the tablet gets the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade.
