So does Intel's new Ivy Bridge platform made that much of a difference in performance? It does when gaming. Benchmarks are all well and good, but how does the Intel HD 4000 graphics chip perform with today's demanding 3D titles? The answer is in our video, but here's a hint: the Lenovo ThinkPad X230 running on third generation Intel Core i CPU with HD 4000 graphics does about twice as well as the outgoing X220 with 2nd gen Intel CPUs and HD 3000 graphics.
That translates into playable fps at native resolution with low quality settings. This won't replace your dedicated gaming rig but it's definitely good enough for some serious gaming on the road.
