I'm a student from Europe, Germany. My 5 year old Asus Notebook (15" screen) broke down and now I need a new one. I'll take it with me to university 3-4 times a week - so it should be portable --> 13" - 15" screen. At home I can use an external screen.
What I need the notebook for: Writing texts, reading texts, creating websites and Blogs (Wordpress, Joomla, Dreamweaver), browsing the web, a bit of image-editing and RARELY video-editing, watching videos, listen to music;
What should the notebook provide: * i5 processor * 3-5 hours battery life (while using office & wireless lan) * fan noise shouldn't be too loud
Which options do I have?
Sony Vaio SV-S13 Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Lenovo Thinkpad T430s
I like Lenovo because of the fact that it can be upgraded easily. Furthermore I get a student discount. Otherwise the screens of thte T-series is not the best.
One more question (also to Lisa & the admins here): Is the Lenovo X230 too small to write several texts on it because of its 12.5" screen and its resolution? I am just asking because I also have to write parts of my thesis in the university's library on it.
What alternatives do I have? What would you recommend to me? I'm tired of waiting because I'm looking around for a new notebook for half a year.
Regards, Steve.

For creating websites using Dreamweaver where the floating palettes take up space and viewing texts side-by-side, I'd go for a 1600 x 900 display rather than 1366 x 768. The ThinkPad T430s and the Vaio S13.3 Premium have that option.
