What's Hot: Nice colors, cool design and very protective.

What's Not: Add bulk and changes the look for the phone.

We've looked at Musubo's Rubber Band Case in their unique Samsung Galaxy S III case collection. Each of these case follows a design theme, and the Retro design models after old microphone and has two layer of protection. The case fits the Galaxy S III perfectly and comes in five bold colors: black, blue, red, silver and white.

The Musubo Retro case certain has a style. It reminds you the old style microphones from the '30 that had chrome grills. The silver version of the case looks a lot like the microphone grill. The case comes in two pieces, the exterior piece is made with shiny polycarbonate and heat durable. It covers the back, corners and two vertical sides of the phone, providing good structural support for shock damages. Though it's reasonably rigid, it has some flexibility so it's easy to put it on or take it off. The inner layer is made with soft silicone rubber that fits the Galaxy S III like a glove. It's soft and won't scratch your device. The silicone layer and the hard plastic layer mold together perfectly. The Musubo Retro case wrap around the phone and covers the front bezel so that when you put the phone face down, the case touches the surface instead of the phone's display.

The Musubo Retro case is shiny but not too slippery. I wouldn't handle it when your hands are wet, but it shouldn't slip out easily. The shiny surface does make the case look cool, especially in silver, but other colors look great as well. The two -layer case weighs 1.6 ounces and adds noticeable bulk to the Galaxy S III. The added bulk is great for the protection the case provides, but it does change the look of the phone, hiding the nice curves and the slim outline.

The Musubo Retro case has cutouts for ports and cameras but covers the buttons to provide addition ruggedness. The power button and the volume buttons are actually a lot easier to use in the Retro case because the raised rubber pieces give you more leverage. The case has cutouts for the audio jack, both mics, the charging/syncing port and the back camera/flash/speaker cluster. The cutouts have perfect alignment except the back cluster cutouts that are a little to close as you can see the photo below. The cutouts don't seem to block the camera viewfinder or sound through the speaker, but it might block some light from the flash.

As with Musubo's Rubber Band Case, the Musubo Retro Case for the Galaxy S III comes with a small foldable stand instead of a screen protector as indicated on their web site. You can keep the stand flat when not using it, and fold it into a stand when you need it. It's small but surprisingly steady and reasonably sturdy. It can hold the phone in both portrait and landscape orientations, and comes very handy for watching movies, video chatting and more.

Uniquely designed, the Musubo Retro Case for the Samsung Galaxy S III doesn't look like any other case. The style is eye-catching and it comes in five bold colors. The case is very protective thanks to two-layers of material and will protect the phone from scratches, pokes, nicks and even some drop shock. The case is easy to use and has convenient cutouts. It comes with a small portable stand that can hold the phone in either orientation for multimedia consumption. The case does add some bulk and changes the shape and lines of your phone.
