Recommend a 3G tablet
      #44440 - 03/30/13 03:20 AM

I am looking for a tablet with 3G connectivity and good battery life. Basically I will be using it for accessing mails, editing MS word docs on the go while I'm travelling. No serious gaming. Cannot depend on Wifi for connectivity as in my region not many Wifi hotspots are there.

More details of what I'm looking for:

Must have 3G connectivity either using Sim AND/OR 3G dongle(Huawei supported)
OS: Windows 8/Android. Seems Dongles are not fully supported by Win RT so that option is likely to be out.

Should have decent/good battery life
Screen size: 9"-10"
Price - Lower in $$

Can you guys recommend me tablets both in Android and Windows 8 OS?

3G USB dongles will work with any Windows 8 tablet, so your choices are wide open. The least expensive 10" tablet is the Asus VivoTab Smart. With Android, 3G dongles are generally a no-go, so you're looking at models with 3G built-in. If you're in the US, that generally involves a carrier, with AT&T and T-Mobile being the large GSM providers.

Thanks Lisa. I am also considering a Android tablet considering they are budget friendly. Since I will be needing MS Office, mainly MS Word and Excel, can you recommend an app which has full fledged Ms office features or comes very close to it?

The ones that I have been recommended are Office Pro HD and Onlive desktop. Not sure Onlive is available for my region.

OnLive actually is real MS Office streamed from cloud servers, so you'll get all the features there. None of the Android (or iOS for that matter) Office suites have anything like the full set of Office features but you'll get the basics in all the paid Android Office suites like justification, bullets, font styles, basic formulas. I mostly use QuickOffice Pro HD and have been happy with it.
