The Moshi Overture Wallet case for the iPhone 5 is a very well designed and well made case that protects the entire smartphone. It also comes with slots in which you can store an ID card, credit cards, business cards and bills. The case is very functional thanks to the design and cutouts. Moshi offers the Overture in three colors, Metallic Black, Falcon Gray and Sienna Orange, and an interesting thing about these color options is that each color comes in a different finish on the exterior. The texture on each option matches the color well.
The Moshi Overture Wallet case looks like a small pocketbook. It has a form fitting smartphone holder that's made with plastic and is rigid, but has some flexibility that makes it easy to put the iPhone 5 in or take it out. The front cover also has strong insert that protects the screen of the phone, and some padding as well. Both the plastic holder and the front cover protect the phone from any scratches, bumps and even some drop shock. The wallet case has a bigger footprint than the slim iPhone 5 and with the added size, it comes with three card slots and a larger bill pocket behind the slots. The case leaves enough room for you to store an ID, credit cards or business cards and some bills without changing the look of the case and still keep the front cover closed.
In addition to the soft microfiber lining on the interior, the Moshi Overture Wallet Case also comes with a small patch of washable microfiber cloth that Moshi calls Neato. You can use it to wipe your iPhone 5's screen clean of fingerprints and then stick it back to the case via the reusable adhesive on the back of the patch. Using manmade material, the Overture case offers different texture with different color. The orange one has a grained leather look, the gray one (shown in the picture) looks and feels like felt and the black one has a smooth surface. The case has matching stitching colors with the colors of the case and the stitching looks even and strong. The case adds 1.8 ounces of weight to the iPhone 5 and some bulk thanks to the pocketbook style and extra padding on the front cover.
The phone holder on the Moshi Overture Wallet Case fits the iPhone 5 perfectly and gives you access to all ports and buttons on the phone. The top and bottom of the case covers most of the corners of the phone and leaves out the power button, the speaker grills, the audio jack, mics and the Lightning port open for easy access. The holder has a long side cutout that exposes the silence button and the volume buttons. The case has a cutout for the rear camera and flash on the back and it gives the lens full view and enough room for the flash to fully illuminate. The rear camera cutout has a black rim that helps prevent any glare from the flash.
The Moshi Overture Wallet Case has a quiet style yet looks fashionable and well made. The case protects the entire phone from damage of daily use and some drops, and it's very functional thanks to the cutouts that are all perfectly aligned. The color and texture choices are well presented and the added wallet functions will please those who wish to carry the phone to a gym or a store around the corner without taking a larger purse or wallet. The case does add some bulk to the slim phone, though that's the price you pay for added protection and more carrying space.
