It's Sony week here at MobileTechReview, and this time we have our full written review of the Sony Xperia ZL Android smartphone. Sony bills this as the smallest 5" full HD smartphone, and for now they're right. The ZL is nearly identical to the flagship Xperia Z, but it lacks the Z's glass back, water and dust resistant IP57 spec and it adds a consumer IR port with AV remote control. The ZL is a bit less expensive and it's available with LTE that works in the US. This is an unlocked GSM phone, so there's no contract involved.
The Xperia ZL has a quad core 1.5GHz Snapdragon CPU, 2 gigs of RAM, 16 gigs of internal storage and a microSD card slot. It has the usual GPS, dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and a very good 13MP rear camera with Sony's Exmor RS sensor.
