Here's a comparison that will have fanboys up in arms: the iPhone 5s vs. the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Both have rabid followings and are top smartphones for the fall of 2013. The iPhone brings the usual classy metal chassis, sharp and outdoor viewable Retina display and the giant App Store and iTunes ecosystems in tow. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the king of the phablets, particularly if you're looking for a super-sized smartphone with a digital pen.
Both are expensive and they have excellent call quality, sharp cameras with slo-mo video and 4G LTE. The iPhone 5s starts at $199 on contract and $650 off contract for the 16 gig. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is $299 on most carriers with contract and $725 to $750 off contract. But with the Note 3 you get 32 gigs of storage, and if you compare it to the 32 gig iPhone 5s, the price is the same.
Beyond that, they're wildly different: size, OS pen vs. capacitive touch only, resolution and display technology are just a few points of difference. I'm surprised that some of you are considering such different phones, but we've received a number of requests for this smackdown, so here it is!
