We've seen many portable battery chargers that have plenty of power, but the RAVPower Deluxe External Battery Charger 14000mAh Portable Power Bank Pack is one of the largest capacity portable battery chargers we've seen. The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank has a super beefy 14000mAh Lithium-Ion battery and can output 3A total with one port outputs 1A and the other 2A. It can charge two devices simultaneously and one of them can be a tablet. The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank has a 4.92 x 3.15 x 0.79 inches form and weighs 10.4 ounces. It comes in either matte black or glossy white.

Design

The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank has a normal size but weighs a bit more than most other portable battery chargers we've seen and as it should for the size of the battery it packs. The design is simple and the battery is easy to use. The main housing of the battery charger is brushed plastic in black with brushed aluminum looking plastic side band on the matte black version and glossy shiny white plastic housing on the white version. All ports live on one side of the battery pack, and they include a micro USB power input port and two USB power output ports. There is a LED light among the ports that functions as a torch. The battery has a dimpled power on button on the front and a long thin line of LED lights jut below the power button and the LED lights indicate the power level and charging status.

Features

The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank has a high performance battery that has overcurrent and short circuit protections, and it has 500 battery charge cycles. The incredible 14000mAh capacity means you can charge your smartphone many times over before you have to recharge the battery pack, and charge your small tablet more than once and large tablet a full charge. We tested the RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank with several smartphones and tablets and found the capacity very adequate if not overkill. The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank can charge an iPhone 5s from empty to full in 1.5 hours and only uses a little more than 1/8 of its full charge. It used similar amount of time and power to charge a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a little more to charge an HTC One.

For tablets, the RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank also shows its strong power capacity. It can charge the 8" Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at least 3 times and takes a little over 2 hours to fill one full charge on the Note 8. It has similar performance with the Google Nexus 7- it can charge the Nexus 7 3-4 times when the battery is fully charged and takes about 2 hours to make one full charge on the tablet. The only thing that gives the RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank a run for its money are the larger 10" tablets, especially the iPad with Retina. It barely filled a full charge on the iPad with Retina in our tests and it took many hours to fill it even when the battery was only charging the iPad and nothing else.

The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank does offer the ability to charge two devices simultaneously. You can use the USB output port with 1A power to charge your smartphone and the USB output port with 2A power to charge another smartphone or a tablet. We tested this and we found no trouble with charging two devices at the same time. If you use the 2A output to charge a smartphone, the battery charges it faster than the 1A port. The battery pack itself takes a long time to charge. So be sure to charge it overnight before your trip.

It's important to note that the RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank comes with a bag of adapters including a micro USB adapter, a mini USB adapter, a Samsung 30-pin adapter and an Apple 30-pin adapter. The battery doesn't offer power or data pass through via its output ports, which means you can't charge or sync your device while it's connected to the battery.

Conclusion

It's a comforting thought when you're on a busy trip that you have a battery pack that can charge your phone or top off your tablet for a week. The RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank isn't light in your bag, but with the heft you get a battery that has so much power that you'll likely not have to bother to charge your phone on overseas flight or a few days of business trip or vacation. The battery is easy to use, has auto power off when not in use and it has a built-in LED flashlight that's very convenient when you need to charge your devices in the dark. The battery comes with a bag of adapters and should work with most mobile devices including phones, tablets, cameras and portable gaming handhelds. It can charge two devices at the same time and it has short circuit and overcharging protection. The battery doesn't offer any power or data pass through however.
