iPad Case Review: iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air Review

Editor's Ratings (1-5): 4.5

What's Hot: Very protective of the tablet, lots extra card slots and a notepad slot, a pen/stylish holder, and a built-in stand.

What's Not: Adds weight to the very light tablet, comes only in black.

iLuv has released a full line of cases for the new iPad Air, and the CEO Folio is one of the most protective cases in this line-up. The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air is a portfolio style case that hides the iPad Air in a zippered portfolio and protects it from scratches, bumps and drops. The case is easy to use and comes with a built-in stand. The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air currently is only available in black.

Design

The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air is designed for tablet users who wish to carry their digital organizer as well as their paper essentials. The zippered portfolio has a tablet pocket on the right side and traditional portfolio style card slots and side pocket on the left. The tablet holder is easy to use--just slide the tablet into the pocket and secure it with two elastic corner bands, and you're done. The left panel of the portfolio includes one ID card slot and five credit card/business card slots. On the side you'll find a single long pocket that's large enough to hold an A5 sized notepad. Between the two sides of the portfolio, you'll find a pen holder to store a pen or stylus.

The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air is made with sturdy faux leather with solid stitching. The interior of the case has soft lining and won't scratch the surface of your iPad Air when you're handling it in and out of the case. The zipper looks to be heavy duty and has smooth action. Both the front and back of the folio have stiff inserts that can certainly protect your iPad Air from any intrusion of your keys, sharp objects in your bag or backpack; and they also keep the folio's form stiff enough to create a sturdy stand for you to prop up your iPad Air in landscape orientation.

Features

Though the iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air covers the tablet completely when closed, it's actually quite functional. The tablet holder had cutouts large enough for you to access the side buttons including the screen orientation slider/silence button, the volume buttons and the top power button. The tablet holder leaves out the top audio jack, the bottom speakers and the Lightning port for you to use charging cable, but if you need to dock the tablet, you'll likely need to take it out of the case. The CEO Folio also has semi-circle cutouts for the front Home button and the camera; as well as cutouts through the case for the rear camera and mic.

The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air also offers a way for you to prop up the iPad Air in various angles for media viewing, video chatting and web surfing. The case also allows you to lay the tablet flatter for typing on the on-screen keyboard more comfortably. With the additional 12.8 oz. weight added by this case, you'll want to use the built-in stand when you watch movies or read books instead of holding it in your hands for too long.

Conclusion

The iLuv CEO Folio Multi-purpose Portfolio Case for iPad Air is a very protective case that's suited from boardroom or classroom. It allows you to carry your tablet as well as a few essentials such as an ID card, library card, credit cards and business cards. The case also has room for a paper notepad and a penholder. It also gives you a way to carry your expensive gadget in a more discreet manner. The built-in stand is very handy for using the iPad Air on a table and you have access to all ports and buttons. The case does add some weight to the lightest iPad to date and we wish there were more color options for this case model.
