What's Hot: Soft and flexible, comes in different languages and prints, easy to use.

What's Not: Some editions don't show keyboard's backlighting very well.

Let's face it: we've all had accidents while using our computer and the thing suffers the most usually is our keyboard, be it spilled coffee, dropped crumbs, pet hair and dirt. iSkin has released the ProTouch Keyboard Protector to keep your keyboard clean against these hazards and give your keyboard a healthy and long life. The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector is available for the MacBook, MacBook Pro with Retina and MacBook Air 13" as well as the Apple keyboard that comes with the iMac. The silicone keyboard cover is flexible and washable and iSkin offers the ProTouch Keyboard Protector in many versions for different types of users.

The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector is made with ultra-thin silicone material that's BPA-free and lead-free. The silicone is soft and flexible, which makes it very easy to install the keyboard cover and also easy to wash and clean. The material feels soft when you type on it, adding no extra fatigue to your fingers rather cushioning the contact between your fingertips and the keyboard. The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector comes in one piece and fits the keyboard perfectly.

The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector comes in many editions including one designed for children with bright colors highlighting right-hand keys and left-hand keys. While the ProTouch keyboard protectors are mainly designed for North America keyboards, there's a ProTouch Assist Languages edition with printed characters for different languages including Spanish, Cyrillic, Korean and Hebrew. Other editions include Visual Assist with enlarged key letters in black on yellow background for visually impaired, Traktor 2 for users who use the popular DJ software Traktor, FX with prints in wood patterns, camo and chevron and solid black keys, and of course the Classic edition with clear keyboard protector that lets the keyboard's backlighting shine through.

Typing experience on the Mac keyboard via the iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector is better than we expected. Though you're typing through a layer of silicone, you don't feel that you've lost the touch and feel of the keyboard too much. It'll take a bit of time to get used to it but once you do, you'll type normally. The silicone mutes the sound of your keyboard quite a bit, making typing quieter in meetings. We found that the Classic edition had the best touch and feel while the Kid's edition raised up a bit too much to keep the integrity of fast typing feel.

The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector Classic in clear offers the best experience when you need the backlight feature on the keyboard often. The backlight on the Mac keyboards looks plenty bright through the clear and frost versions, but the ProTouch editions with color prints show less of the keyboard's backlighting.

If you've seen food particles, pet hair and other things stuck under the keys on your keyboard, or you've spilled liquid on your keyboard, the iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector can save you the trouble of getting new keyboards every time you have an accident. The thin silicone material provides the closest touch and feel to that of using a keyboard directly, and it's easy to install and take off for washing and cleaning. The ProTouch comes in various editions to suit the needs of different types of users and it's long lasting. Some editions don't let the backlighting show through much.
