iPad Case Review: X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns for iPad Air Review
      #46013 - 02/06/14 03:46 PM

The X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns case for the iPad Air is a portfolio style case that protects the entire tablet. It has colorful prints on the cover and comes with a built-in stand. The X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns is slim and light and it's also very easy to use.

Design

The X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns for iPad Air case follows the X-Doria SmartStyle case design with a rubberized tablet holder on the right and a waxed canvas cover on the left. The difference however is the SmartStyle Patterns collection has front cover prints that remind us their Icon series cases for smartphones. All seven prints in the collection are eye-catching and each one looks unique. Depending on the front pattern colors, the tablet holder comes in a complimentary color.

The rubberized tablet holder is slim yet not super thin or limp like some gel case. It fits the iPad Air perfectly and it's easy to install the tablet in the case or take it out. The case keeps the shape quite well and can certainly protect the tablet's back and sides from scratches, bumps and nicks when you store it in your bag. The canvas cover has stiff inserts to protect the tablet screen and major portion of the tablet's back. The waxed canvas can withstand light water splashes and the patterns add tactile feel. Both the front and back of the case provide good grip for the tablet. The interior of the case has soft felt lining.

Features

The X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns case offers all the necessary cutouts for the tablet's ports and covers the tablet's buttons with protective rubber buttons. The case has perfect cutouts for the top and rear mics and the audio jack, a cutout for the screen lock slider and three cutouts for the bottom audio ports and the Lightning port. The rear camera enjoys a perfect cutout as well. The case covers the power button and volume buttons to prevent wear and tear and it's easy to use them under the cover.

As with the X-Doria SmartStyle case, the X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns case offers built-in stand that can prop up your iPad Air in many viewing angles in landscape orientation. You'll find a row of rubberized strips on the interior of the front cover that help prevent the tablet from slipping when in standing positions. The front cover also functions as auto wake and sleep switch.

Conclusion

The X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns for iPad Air is a slim case that provides good protection for daily use and can withstand some bumps during travel. The case adds only 9 ounces to the light tablet and gives the slim tablet a much better grip. The case is very functional and the built-in stand is steady and offers many viewing angles. If you're looking for a portfolio style case for using your iPad at home, office and your daily commute, the X-Doria SmartStyle Patterns case is a good choice. It also offers eye-catching prints and matching back color.
