Gameloft has let out new info on its upcoming AAA first-person shooter Modern Combat 5: Blackout. The new info includes two new features of the game: unified progression and character classes. Here's more info on Modern Combat 5: Blackout:
Like previous titles in the Modern Combat universe, MC5: Blackout will feature both a single player campaign and multiplayer modes. This time though, players will notice that player progression doesn't just happen in multiplayer, but in single player as well. The experience points you gain by completing single player missions will level up your character across both modes and vice-versa. Every mission or match you play will also increase your weapon score, leading up ultimately to mastery of individual weapons. Better weapons will unlock as you play the game and once unlocked, a weapon can be used in both single player and multiplayer.
There are 4 different soldier classes you can play as in MC5: Blackout, in both single player and multiplayer. Whenever you level up in single or multiplayer, you will receive Skill Points that unlock augments that are unique to each class. In addition to unique upgradeable skills and perks, each class is defined by the weapons they equip. Here's a quick breakdown of the classes:
Assault - Aggressive fighter that is effective at medium range combat. Equips assault rifles and pistols. Heavy - Resilience is the main advantage of this class. Equips shotguns and RPGs and feels comfortable in close to medium combat. Recon - Focuses on fast action and exposing enemies. Equips SMGs and pistols. Efficient in close range combat. Sniper - Obviously, focuses on sharpshooting with a stealth approach. Equips sniper rifles and pistols. Efficient in long distance combat.
