Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 vs. iPad mini with Retina
      #46940 - 09/05/14 03:03 AM

Greetings,

Really am torn between a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 or iPad mini with Retina. Biggest thing perhaps is the lack of GBs on the Ipad. Would like to be able to carry a bunch of PDFs from my work and it would be nice to have videos in abundance.

The size of these fit my needs. Is there any new tablet of this size that I should also consider?

I know this boils down to taste and preferences but I seem to be fretting a lot over this.

Any input appreciated.

Smorton

I actually meant a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4, not the Samsung Galaxt Tab Pro 8.4. Probably does not make a difference.

Thanks

SM

True the Tab S and Tab Pro are identical other than the Super AMOLED display on the S models. The other high end 8" tablet on the market is the NVIDIA Shield Tablet, which targets gamers, but it's also an all-purpose Android tablet.

thought I'd ask here rather than start a new thread.
I bought the tab pro 8.4 and I'm almost completely satisfied with it. however, there's one thing that has been bugging me.. enough to consider paying the extra and getting the tab s 8.4 instead.
when browsing certain (content rich) sites on the tab pro, scrolling stutters; hanging for a few moments then zipping down the page. it's really annoying especially considering the snapdragon chip scores better than the exynos. I've tried fresh from a reset with no improvement.
I was wondering if you had a similar experience or whether you have a fresh recollection of how the tab s performed?

thanks

You're looking at the same performance between the Tab Pro 8.4 and Tab S 8.4. The stuttering is probably caused by the many ads and occasional animated GIFs on today's web pages. It's not uncommon to see it occasionally on Android tablets and even Windows tablets with the lower end Intel Atom CPU. However, if you're seeing it very frequently and on a variety of sites, that would be unexpected. Try emptying the browser cache, or try a different web browser and see if that improves things.

thanks,
the pro is a bargain ($150 cheaper). I'll have to visit BB and try a hands on..
it's too difficult to call (cost aside) otherwise.
