I'm in the market for my first PDA, and am reading up on various models online.
I have heard that both the Sony CLIE UX40 (or UX50) and the PalmOne Tungsten E produce an annoying high-pitched whine when in use. Can anyone confirm or deny this? What is the whine like, and is it always there, or just when battery is low or something? I'm very sensitive to noise, so I'm guessing I should avoid these models (?). Are there any other models with this kind of intrusive sound issue?
Thanks in advance.

I'd hadn't heard about the Tungsten E whine, but there are folks on cliesource.com who have UX models that do whine. My UX50 has been pretty quiet so far, thank goodness It seems that some models develop it over a period of time, and it has nothing to do with the battery level. Rather some LCD systems on handhelds emit a faint whine and it has something to do with the frequency the display is driven at. Most aren't terribly noticable unless you're in a very quiet room, however it seems some UX's are more noticably. Don't know how to describe the LCD noise, but it's around 2k hertz and constant when the unit is on.
