3.5mm "4-Way" Headset?
      #9444 - 03/21/04 04:15 AM

The specs on my HP 5550 mention a "4-way" connector for a headset. I'm assuming that means microphone/left/right/ground signals (not necessarily in that order) has anyone found such a headset? One with stereo and a microphone all in ONE plug? There are many many computer headsets but the microphone jack is seperate, as in two jacks one stereo headset and one microphone jack. I did a google search but came up with none? Is there an adapter for two jacks to one "4-way"?
Did I miss something? Can you have a stereo headset with built in microphone?

The Toshiba e805 also uses a 4 ring jack and they do offer a stereo headset + mic unit-- not sure why HP never offered one. There is a company that makes a 4 ring headset, but I can't remember their name, sorry Who knows, the Toshiba one might work on the iPAQ.

Still looking
In my quest to listen to MP3's and occasionally do voice memo's (not necessarily at the same time)...
Could there possibly be a BlueTooth "STEREO" Headset & Mic that would work with an HP 5550?
BTW is it me or the built in mic is really not that good? I'd like to leave it on the table and record a lecture but it doesn't really pick up well?

The built-in mic is really designed for close range recording on PDAs, so lectures can be hit or miss. I'm not aware of any stereo Bluetooth headset mic units, just mono, but there are probabably one or more out there somewhere.
