Advice on which PDA?/Where to buy?
      #9606 - 03/29/04 08:41 AM

Hi,

I'm currently living overseas in Thailand. Would like to know which PDA is the best for reading e-books, listening to MP3s and playing games? Also does anyone know of any online sites that will ship to Thailand? Thanks.

Greg

For PalmOne devices, check out these two:

I'm about to upgrade my old Palm Vx. I narrowed down to the range of Clie TJ27/37 or iPaq 1xxx. As to comparing the two in the same price range, it appears that iPaq has double the RAM as to 32mb RAM on Clie TJ27/37. What does the RAM number really tell of the two OS? Is it true that PPC consumes more memory than Palm?

The reason I didn't list any new Sony devices, even though they are very fine PDAs, is because the buttons are really designed for gaming. I'm sure many games will play fine on it, but if there are games that require pressing two function buttons next to each other, you will be out of luck. Read about it in our review:

iPAQ 1xxx are great units as well. But I thought you wanted Palm device. It is true that Pocket PC OS requires more processor power to run than the Palm OS devices.

i also like to know if you could share your experience of using Chinese fonts in either unit. What Chinese system may be used in these pdas?

Chinese dictionaries work very well. I don't think I've come across any Chinese input software. If you do a search on PalmGear you can see what's available.
