Do you have an SC2xxx model? Our SC2010 had an Intel control panel applet that manages both the Intel wired 10/100 Ethernet and Intel WiFi controllers. Once I used that control panel to connect to our WiFi network (and unchecked the "allow Windows to manage this connection" box in the network settings under Windows) it automatically connected to our access point after each reboot. Though I did have to press the hardware WiFi button on the front bezel to re-enable WiFi from a cold boot.

At 1/4" or a bit less, the cover/keyboard is thin as any cover you'll find, plus it's very rigid and offers good protection for the display.

Well, the Scribbler is a special case because of the huge battery and long runtimes on a charge, so some folks might buy it just for that.
In general Tablets appeal to those who like to write on the screen (handwriten notes and diagrams) or do image editing directly on screen without having to use a digitizing tablet.

Can you tell me why you'd buy a tablet pc (the Scribbler 2010 for instance) over a more traditional laptop? What are you using it for that a laptop won't do for you?

For me it's less a function of "What are you using it for that a laptop won't do for you?" than it is "What do I need a laptop for, if a tablet can do everything I need?" I'm primarily a PDA user and full-time traveler (aircrew member). I don't need a keyboard, am more comfortable with stylus input. I want something I can put on my lap, or hold in one hand and use with the other on the flightline (not a lot of desks between the planes). Admitadly, I work in an unusual work environment, so I expect to have to use unusual "tools." I don't need an optical drive if the hard drive is big enough, a keyboard just gets in the way, a clamshell design is awkward (even a convertible tablet is unnecessary, just a slate is fine.) And yes, long battery life is very important. But still looking for just the right one.

I know that CompUSA used to carry the Electrovaya Scribbler line (though not always in stores). Other than that, sorry but I don't know. You might contact them directly and ask about stores in your area.

I just noticed that ProPortable.com sells the Scribbler 2000 in the US, if anyone's trying to find a retailer: http://proportable.g2.cc/detail.aspx?ID=16
