I have an Ipaq 5455 and I was looking in the start>settings>system>memory and I don't quite get the layout. theres, Total memory- 62.91MB Storage Program (some sliderbar) Allocated: 35.84MB Allocated: 27.07MB In Use: 23.72MB In use: 6.36MB Free: 12.12MB Free: 20.17MB Then under the "storage card" tab(note i don't have an expansion card or anything) Total storage card memory: 19.78Mb inuse: 3.28MB free: 16.50MB "Ipaq File Store"
question is what does the slider bar do I haven't noticed a difference when i slide it either way? and between storage and program what does that mean, I can't find this info in the manual for some reason and the "help" file isn't clear. and ...how much space do I have to put like pictures/movie files on the unit, which is THAT column cause I put some large files on here and none of the numbers in this menu changed. So confused.
The slider lets you set the balance between program memory (like RAM in your PC) and storage memory (like your PC's hard drive).
The iPAQ File Store is listed as a storage card, even though it's built-in peristent NAND storage memory and not a removeable card. You can put programs and data in the File Store and they will survive a hard reset, unlike regular RAM memory.
