I help my father in law with his computer problems. He has a palm tungsten, and he had no problems with hotsync until he switched from traditional dial up and had insight broadband put onto his computer. When he hot synchs the noise is made and then it stalls with the following message "looking for user ...." then it give an error message "the primary pc for network hotsync operation ......" it tells him to perform a local hotsync and he clicks ok. The process then repeats.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like your father-in-law has a new USB cable modem. Try unplugging your HotSync cradle USB cable, power down the computer, power it back up and wait until it fully boots your configuration, then plug the HotSync cradle back into the USB port. If this doesn't work, then reinstall Palm Desktop over itself, which will reinstall its USB port drivers and fix its registry entries.
