Lisa said: "The rz1715 has a rounded-off rectangular shape that's more business-like than stylish."
Rich Said: Actually, I think it's kind of stylish...guess it's a taste thing...I like business-like things...no...I think it looks more Star-Treky than any of the other designs...is that stylish? (Guess I showed my lack of taste, eh?)
...Why I usually go out of the house dressed in clothing selected by my wife....

As a newbie to PDAs and evaluating handhelds, does the rz1715 have hand writting recognition software? If so, how good is it? If not, can it be purchased and installed?

Yes, it has handwriting recognition as do all PDAs except for the Treo smartphones. It works quite well too.

Thank you for your response.I finally handled the rz1715 and noticed that the fonts in the address book seemed to be a tad small for me to read comfortably. Can the fonts be enlarged and made crisper? I think this might have been mentioned in the review.

You can go to Settings-> Display and change the overall font size which enlarges fonts for most of the built-in apps.

Many thanks for all the advice. I bought it. It actually recognizes my hand writing! Any thoughts as to what I should read to make learning how to use it easier then the manual. Many of the write-ups are written as if one has knowledge. I need the equivalent of information in "Dummies" form for this device. Happy New Year.

Hmmm.. I believe there is a Pocket PC for Dummies book, along with How to do Everything with your Pocket PC. Take a look at this page: http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/tips/books.htm
