Peer to peer Wi Fi connection

Hi! I need a lot of help, cause I'm trying to connect my Axim X30 to my notebook HP Pavillion using the Wi Fi 802.11b, to transfer files, sync, or get online via my notebook, but I tried several times and i couldn't. If somebody could help me out with this and explain to me how to do that, Thanks for all your help.
