I am interested in purchasing an IPAQ 6315, and unlocking it for use on the AT&T (Cingular) network. I have seen a recent upgrade software download available on the HP website. Should I download the upgrade first or have the IPAQ unlocked first? Will the 6315 function with an AT&T 32KB SIM card once it is unlocked and upgraded? Thank you for any knowledgeable responces.

It really doesn't matter which you do first. The ROM upgrade doesn't re-lock the phone. If you get it unlocked, it will work with an AT&T SIM- I've tested my unlocked 6315 with an AT&T SIM and it works fine.

Thanks, Lisa! I have purchased my iPaQ, installed the upgrade, and for some reason, it did require to be unlocked again with my AT&T SIM card installed. No matter, seems to work fine now. But how do you change the screen view from portrait to landscape? I can't seem to find the adjustment anywhere on the settings page.

Strange that the upgrade would have SIM locked your phone again. It didn't relock ours. . .
Landscape orientation is only supported in Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition. The iPAQ 6315 runs Windows Mobile 2003 (not Second Edition).

Is it possible to upgrade to Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition?

HP is not offering an upgrade to SE. Unless they do (and they said they had no plans to) then there is no way to upgrade to 2003 SE.
