It appears the Dell has the best deal going right now, at around $349 marked down from over $500. Which one is the better buy? They both look like they have all the bells & whistles, except different operating systems/programs.
My goals in a PDA (this will be my first):
keeping calendar/appointments for my job occasionally surf the web but not much play media/games when I've got down time good durability
Thanks!

It comes down to which OS you prefer and whether you find the gobs of storage space on the LifeDrive attractive. Also keep in mind that the LifeDrive has a higher resolution display which means you'll be able to see more on screen (nice for web page viewing, ebook reading and working with Excel docs).

Hello,
Just a slight clarification: although the x51v actually has double the pixels of the LD (640x480 vs 320x480), I think I've read that Windows Mobile 5, by default, uses those extra pixels to act like a 320x240 system, except with smoother fonts and graphics. I think this is what Lisa is talking about.

Jacob, thanks for clarifying. Though the Dell has higher resolution in terms of raw specs, you won't actually see it except when viewing photos and watching videos (two applications where the true resolution is used). The OS does indeed pixel doubles most apps including IE, so what you see on screen is nearly identical to a standard QVGA device. Hacks are required to get apps running at true VGA (i.e. OzVGA).
