Well I'm the brand new owner of a HTC 6800 (bell) I had an iPaq 3600 and 5500 and they both served me well. I use to use TCMP to play various media files I re-encoded to 320x240. I downloaded the last version of TCMP (.72 I believe) and although it'll load the files correctly I can't seem to get anything faster than 5s per frame. Am I missing something? The only other thing I have running is a program called PBar(for closing apps). Is there any kind of tweaking that I can do to make this thing run reasonably faster? Is there another video player that'll work better?
I miss my shows!
Thanks in advance,
M

Try going to Preferences and under the video section select Direct Draw for video output.

Hmmm I went to Options->Video and it appears that DirectDraw was already selected. Just for the heck of it I switched it to GDI. Wouldn't you know it it now runs at full frames (near as I can tell) That's bizzare... Of course TCMP was written for WM5 so maybe... More tweaking to do I guess. Another oddity is that when I go into Options->Settings on the General screen my PocketPC shows up as an 385 Mhz ARM processor(I thought I had a 400MHz Intel PXA250).
Oh well. I'll explore further. I wonder why it chokes on DirectDraw though?

Funny that Direct Draw causes problems- both it and GDI should work. The ATI accel is broken on newer devices (ATI's new owner apparently won't disclose the required info to offer that accel in TCPMP and Core Player Mobile .

Well it seems to work well enough now. There's the odd stutter(the thing only has 64Megs of RAM). I wonder how good it would be if ATI video acceleration were enabled...
I'm a 20m drive to ATI. I should go over there and give them a piece of my mind. Of course they were bought out by AMD...
