I've taken the plunge and purchased an HTC P3300 smartphone. Should I buy a 2yr/4yr warranty? They are pricey. I generally never buy warranties and have had good luck without them. Do most people buy them, or not?

I personally don't buy them. But some folks like the piece of mind it provides, or are prone to dropping their device (for those plans that cover accidental damage). Also, do you plan to keep the device much longer than a year? If not, then no need for the extended warranty.

Having worked electronics retail, I can confirm that extended warranties are one of the biggest sources of profit for retailers. Even if you do end up needing the extended warranty, realistically speaking, there is a strong possibility that the store will simply state that the issue you are experiencing is not covered.

Thanks for your feedback. I think I will pass on the warranty.
