Attention MacBook Air owners: for optimal performance, do not throw out your MacBook.
Veteran journalist Steven Levy reports in his latest column that he has apparently learned this the hard way. At just 12.8 in. X 8.94 in. X 0.16 in. X 3.0 pounds, a MacBook Air placed in a stack of newspapers might be barely noticeable. Trouble is, that's exactly where Levy had his review unit stashed, and he believes that his wife unknowingly took the MacBook Air out with the garbage or recycling.
Levy admits that it was an embarrassing mistake; the potential for jokes seems almost endless. Perhaps it would have been better to throw out a Zune...? Could the whole thing be a cover up so he can keep the review unit? It may seem amusing, but this is one punch line that will apparently be costing Newsweek about $1,800. Right now, Levy is probably wishing that Leopard's Time Machine could roll back changes to hardware, instead of just data.
