The Storm has its mistral moments on the initial firmware, but we forgive it because 1) the new touch OS had a lot of new tricks under the hood, 2) RIM came out with an OS upgrade quickly to take care of some of the Storm's issues.

We opted for the web-based upgrade option using an old Windows XP notebook, and the process took about 25 minutes and was painless. Yes, it backs up your settings and stuff before it wipes the device and installs fresh everything.
