Netbook review: Sony Vaio P Lifestyle PC with SSD
      #32983 - 03/26/09 10:01 PM

Sony's "Lifestyle PC", or ultra-mobile notebook or high end netbook is one cool piece of hardware. It makes netbooks like the Acer Aspire One look big, yet it sports a larger keyboard and a much higher resolution display. Starting at $900, the Vaio P doesn't compete with netbooks directly, rather it's the portable for those who want to do more than the basics and who want incredible good looks and high quality fit and finish.

The 1.4 lb. Vaio has an 8" display running at an incredible 1600 x 768 resolution, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, a 1.3MP webcam, GPS and Verizon EVDO Rev. A for mobile broadband. We look at the 64 gig SSD version, and it's available with a conventional drive as well as a 128 gig SSD. Windows Vista is standard and the Vaio P has a Linux-based instant on mode for multimedia, web browsing, IM and Skype too.

Our review includes a video review and coverage of Windows 7 on the Vaio P588E. And let me tell you, Windows 7 rocks on the P!
