MetroPCS to Offer the Mr. Cartoon Designed Samsung Messager Phone
      #33861 - 08/03/09 02:45 PM

MetroPCS and Samsung today announce they will offer an exclusive Samsung Messager handset (SCH-r450) designed by Mister Cartoon, the acclaimed artist, later this month. The limited edition Samsung Messager will be available to consumers in all MetroPCS markets. Mister Cartoon wallpapers, ringtones and animation are preloaded on the handsets with additional downloads available from the MetroPCS Web site. A portion of revenues generated from this MetroPCS and SA Studios Global initiative will go directly to funding community art centers, outreach programs for at-risk youth and art supplies for local Los Angeles schools, Mister Cartoon?s hometown. Additionally, the first ten phones in the series will be auctioned for charity on the MetroPCS Web site in the month of August.

?We are truly excited to not only offer consumers an exclusively-designed handset, but also to support Mister Cartoon in his charitable activities around the Los Angeles area? said Tom Keys, chief operating officer for MetroPCS.

Mister Cartoon, renowned tattoo artist, car customizer, illustrator and designer, has worked with numerous celebrities, including Eminem, Beyonce, director Brian Grazer and most recently Lance Armstrong with Nike for the Livestrong Foundation. Mister Cartoon?s products have become collectors? items worldwide.

?There were several opportunities for us in the mobile space, but MetroPCS understands how important it is to support the communities in which they provide service and have helped them grow,? said Mister Cartoon, creative director of SA Studios Global. ?MetroPCS continues to offer unmatched value to its customers and that level of commitment drove our decision to team up with them.?

?Samsung Mobile is excited to collaborate with MetroPCS and Mister Cartoon to create this limited edition handset,? said Paul Golden, chief marketing officer of Samsung Telecommunications America. ?Already an exceptional handset, the Mister Cartoon customization of the Samsung Messager provides customers with a truly unique wireless experience.?

MetroPCS offers a diverse selection of wireless service plans, ranging from $30 to $50 per month, which allows customers to talk 24-hours-a-day, seven days a week, and provides enhanced service options so customers can create a wireless experience that best fits their lifestyles. With MetroPCS service, customers pay by the month, not by the minute, and services do not require a signed contract, deposit or credit check. The first month of service is free with the purchase of a phone and there is no activation fee or hidden charges.

Consumers can visit MetroPCS authorized dealer locations or visit the MetroPCS Web site at www.metropcs.com for more information about handsets, plans and coverage as well as the international destinations covered by unlimited international calling.
