I have had the TP2 for a little less than a month and so far love it. Sprint offered me a trial of the HERO which I haven't activated yet. Your reviews for both phones are impressive but there's 2 things I can't seem to find as of yet. 1st, is the speaker on the HERO as good as on the TP2? (I use the speakerphone lots) 2nd, will I be able to save my SMS with Android on the HERO? I currently have Jeyo Mobile Extender for WM that sends my SMS to outlook. I really need to be able to save my SMS for future reference.

By design, the Touch Pro2's speaker phone is especially good, and I'd say it's better than the Hero's.
As far as I recall, HTC's desktop sync for the Hero doesn't sync SMS messages to the desktop. Desktop syncing overall isn't a strong point for Android phones since it's designed around "cloud" syncing to online services and Exchange.
