Sony Ericsson has gone through quite a few smartphone operating systems in the past few years. Now they're on Android, a hot and exciting new smartphone OS, and that's a good thing. Like most Sony Ericsson smartphones, this is a high end piece of hardware with a capacious 4" capacitive touch screen, 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and an 8.1 megapixel camera. Sweet. It will likely be sold unlocked rather than by a carrier, so be prepared for a hefty price tag. But it just might be capable of taking on the Nexus One, that self-proclaimed superphone. The Xperia X10a version we take a look at is intended for the US and it has 3G HSDPA on AT&T's bands as well as Europe's. Other goodies include the full Google suite of software, a GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and Sony Ericsson's enhancements to Android.
I had a quick question, when you were reviewing the sony ericsson xperia x10a on at&t 3g's network, were you able to use the $15 media net plan? or did at&t force you to use their $30 smartphone data plan?
This would be helpful for me, because I am thinking of buying the unlocked Canadian version (Rogers) and using the $15 data plan. I will then use my upgrade to get a blackberry and give it to my brother.

My guess is that the $15 plan would work since AT&T doesn't carry and thus identify the X10a. But I actually used it with the iPhone data plan and smartphone data plans.
