Review: Sony Reader Touch Edition PRS-650 eBook Reader
      #39001 - 11/01/10 10:49 PM

Sony's second generation Touch Edition ebook reader, the PRS-650, gets it right. The Pearl E-Ink display is crisp and looks better than the outgoing Touch Edition PRS-600 (that's easy) and non-Pearl E-ink displays like the Barnes and Noble Nook (now we're impressed). It's on par with the Amazon Kindle 3 display, and better yet it has a touch screen that works with both fingers and stylus for more natural interaction and note-taking. The Sony Reader has a 6" display but it's smaller and lighter than other 6" ereaders. The casing is metal and quality is excellent. The Sony works with ePUB and PDF ebooks including public library ebooks and Google's public domain classics. The only drawback? No wireless.
