Video review: Samsung Continuum Android Galaxy S phone on Verizon
      #39180 - 11/19/10 02:31 AM

Are 2 screens better than 1? Verizon and the Samsung Continuum think so. The Continuum is Samsung's latest Galaxy S family Android smartphone, and it's a close relative to the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. The Continuum is available now on Verizon and it sells for $199 with a 2 year contract.

The Continuum features dual front displays: a main capacitive 480 x 800 yummy Super AMOLED display and a tiny Super AMOLED "ticker" display below. The Ticker has weather info, news RSS feeds and social network updates. It's not on all the time (that would kill the battery and drive you crazy when left on the nightstand). Rather it lights up when a fresh news item comes in, or a friend updates their Twitter/Facebook/MySpace status. Tap on the ticker to show detailed info on the display above. Is it a must have feature? Probably not, but it is moderately entertaining and somewhat useful.

Other than the ticker, the Samsung Continuum is much like other Galaxy S phones: it has a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU with graphics acceleration, Android 2.1 with Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 user interface enhancements and apps on top, WiFi, a GPS, Bluetooth and a solid 5 megapixel camera that can shoot 720p video.

Here's our Samsung Continuum video review. Our written review will follow in a few days.
