New iPhone Game: Age of Hammer Wars Released for iOS
      #39479 - 12/21/10 11:03 AM

Dynamic Systems Group today introduces Age of Hammer Wars 1.0, their new game for iOS. Land and sky here are ruled by diminutive helicopter machines fashioned from wood and steel. A player takes control over one of the machines and is left facing quite a number of not-so-friendly neighbours. On top of the classical "shoot-them-all", the game puts the player through inventive tasks of guarding the cargo ship, breaking from jail and even the battle with an enemy chained to player's machine. Here is more info on this new iPhone game:

A player takes control over one of the machines and is left facing quite a number of not-so-friendly neighbours. What to do? How to fight the adversaries? Well, simplest way is to ram them, but that can be the doom of the flying machine and it's pilot. Answer is to attach an assault weapon to the craft. At his disposal Player finds the complete collection of medieval weaponry -maces, axes, swords and of course, mean-looking battle hammers. Swinging the flying machine in circles player begins to wield the attached weapon - all he needs now is to get close to the enemy to strike. Several aimed blows and there is one less opponent around. But - don't get too carried away and remember to doge enemy hits.

Some may call Hammer Wars an arcade, but in fact this game has impressive physics. Bounces, inertia, and gravitation - all are taken from real world. Heavier weapons slow the flying machine down. Some weapons work better against particular types of armour. At times player can even crash her machine through the walls! Try it for yourself, you'll like it!

Here is a gameplay video for the PSP version:

Original PC's HammerFight received some criticism over game controls - all movements had to be done with the mouse and hand got tired quickly from the constant circular motion. Hammer Wars controls are much simpler - controls buttons are located on either side of the screen and (to spare game fans from seasickness) iPhone's gyro is not used at all.

Age of Hammer Wars offers a diverse array of missions. On top of classical "shoot-them-all", the game puts the player through inventive tasks of guarding the cargo ship, breaking from jail and even the battle with an enemy chained to player's machine. The coins beaten from the enemies a Player can spend in an upgrade shop. On sale are new weapons, armour for the machine and healing potions, it's impossible to defeat some of the bosses without the latter.

Age of Hammer Wars sells for $1.99 on the iTunes App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/age-of-hammer-wars/id398196476?mt=8
