iPhone 4 Case Review: Verizon iPhone 4 Vroom Case by Case-mate

What's Hot: Cool looking, good protection and awesome price.

What's Not: Cutouts are a bit deep.

Case-mate had released the Vroom case for the iPhone 4 on ATT way before the Verizon version of the phone came out, and it was a form fitting case with cutouts perfectly aligned with all the buttons. With the Verizon iPhone 4's release, Case-mate launched a modified Vroom case for the phone to accommodate the relocation of the silence button. The Vroom iPhone 4 case may look like tire tread but it?s not made with rubber. It's a soft silicone case that?s easy to put your iPhone 4 in or take it out. Since the case is mimicking the look of a tire, it comes only in black.

Design

For the car enthusiasts the Vroom case for iPhone 4 should be eye-catching. It looks like a piece of tire but it?s actually pretty clean cut with a very smooth surface, but if you try to slide it on a table or out of a tight pant?s pocket the case becomes very grippy. The sides on the Vroom for iPhone 4 case have no treads, just a smooth silicone surface, and the case wraps around the iPhone 4 and covers the edges of the display nicely. The silicone material is medium thick providing a good protection for your iPhone 4 but doesn?t add too much bulk. In fact, it actually feels slim in hand. Like with most silicone cases, the Vroom iPhone 4 Case is very flexible and it?s super easy to put it on or take it off of the phone, and it hasn?t lost its shape or stretched out yet after lots of use.

The tread pattern on the Vroom for iPhone 4 Cas isn?t very deep, but if you eat crackers and drop crumbs on the case, they will get trapped in the treads. Luckily it?s silicone, and you can clean the case up with water. The black doesn?t show hand grease and fairly resistant to lint and dirt.

Features

The Verizon iPhone 4 Vroom Case is reborn thanks to the change in the silence button?s location, and Case-mate wants to make the button aligned in the center of the cutout. The cutouts on the case are indeed perfect for the silence button, the audio jack and mic on top and there is a long cutout on the bottom that leaves the mic, speaker and 30-pin connector exposed. The power button and the volume buttons are under silicone covers but they function easily under the covers. Though not a thick case, the cutouts o the Vroom for iPhone 4 Case have thick edges. It won?t stop you from using a charging cable or headphones, but if your dock station or audio accessory has tight connector space, it might not fit with the phone in the case.

Conclusion

Many case makers made the silence button cutout bigger to fit both versions of the iPhone 4, but Case-mate bothered to redesign a popular case just to perfectly aligned a button to the cutout. The Vroom case has a unique car tread design and it?s nicely built with form fitting silicone. The case is very affordable for the quality you get. The only thing to watch out for is if you have docks or speakers that have short and tight connector space.
