Asus Eee Pad Transformer Keyboard Dock Video Review
      #40896 - 06/25/11 03:51 PM

It's not easy to find, but we finally got a hold of the keyboard dock for our lovely Asus Eee Pad Transformer Android Honeycomb 3.1 tablet. This $149 extra turns the Transformer into a notebook/netbook replacement of sorts, but just how good is that experience? Since it's hard to find in stores, we know you might be wondering the same thing, and we're here to help.

In a word, it really is transformative, and we immediately interacted with the tablet as if it were a notebook. The ergonomics are there, thanks to a small but functional Chiclet keyboard and trackpad as well as enough dedicated Android keys to do most everything using the keyboard.

In our video we take a look at the build quality, how the two look locked together, the myriad Android and device control keys and how the whole package performs with the included full version of Polaris Office that lets you view, edit and create MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint compatible files.

The keyboard dock has a built in battery that nearly doubles runtimes and charges your Eee Pad Transformer. The dock has a charging port that's identical to the Transformers. The dock has two USB 2.0 ports and a full size SD card slot too. These work well with Asus' custom drivers and we were able to use an external unpowered USB hard drive (WD MyPassport), USB thumb flash drives and a mouse. CDROM drives do not work.

Here's our Asus Eee Pad Transformer Keyboard Dock video review:
