iPad Game Review: 1112 Episode 3 HD Reviewed by JadeDragon
Louis is in trouble again. This time around, he's back in Jalonsville but his wife Anna has gone missing. Together with Louis, we begin a crazy journey into the mystery of his missing wife, investigating the strange graffiti, and meeting over a dozen characters. For the 1112 fans, this is a journey you can't afford to miss!
After the mysteries in Jalonsville the first time around and in the city, Louis wakes up in his best friend's bathroom back in his hometown with flashes of memory being in the hotel room in the city and a gas station where a strange man punched him. But how he ended up in John?s bathroom he has no recollection and John is no help either. Louis goes to his own house, which should look familiar to those who played 1112 episode 1, and only finds that it?s been ransacked and graffitied. But his wife is nowhere to be found. So Louis goes into town, and finds the same thing, his antique shop has been tossed as well, and his assistant, Felicity is in shock.
With mystery plot thickens at every turn, Louis explores various locations including a bar, a pharmacy, people?s houses where often he has to find ways to sneak into, and a police station. Jalonsville this time around is under the cover of snow and looks quite different from the first episode. The game uses the iPad?s multi-touch screen well, like two finger operated safe key and so on. Hints are well places, some of them are quite clear at stating what the next action you should be taking; others not so much. Like a good mystery, you will need to think about what you?ve seen, heard and read, and use all the clues to figure out your next move.
1112 episode 3 offers a few mini games as well including jigsaw puzzles, lock picking and more. As with the previous episodes, you do a lot of back and forward visiting the same places for new clues. The scenes are time stamped, so what you see once might not be the same the next time you see it again. The game has a good pace thanks to the well placed puzzles and clues. The length of the game is also longer than the previous episodes.
If you?ve played 1112 episode 1 and 2, you already know that the game has excellent graphics and intuitive interface. In episode 3, the graphics got even better with 14 new characters that have different expressions and seem to come alive when they pop up. The scenes look sharp and realistic, and they support pinch zooming.
The menu interface is easy to use, and all the items you collect and all the clues you gather are all in one place. Visual clues are well designed, giving you some hint but not completely obvious. All in all, the graphics gotten sharper than the previous episodes, and you will enjoy every scene, and every character has some intriguing quality. Agharta Studio has some very talented graphics artists!
1112 series has original music tracks that go very well with the visual and story, and episode 3 is no exception. The music has an eerie feel to it, enhancing the mysterious atmosphere. Sound FX does the job with appropriate sound feedback to the actions you take and different tools you use.
Like a good serial, 1112 episode 3 creates more questions than it answers. And at the end, we doubt our actions just as Louis does his. Will he ever see his wife again? Is this all a dream? One thing is clear though, we enjoyed the ride and can?t wait to see the next episode!
