iPhone Case Review: Olly's World iPhone 4/4S Case

What's Hot: Incredibly cute, slim and light, form fitting.

What's Not: Could use more protection for younger users.

As a brand, Olly Oogleberry aims to inspire kids' imagines of outer space and aliens. These are not the scary aliens haunted Sigourney Weaver in the movie series, but wide-eyed, kid-friendly cute aliens with their antenna ears. Olly Oogleberry now has teamed up with Case-mate, one of the most prolific iPhone 4 case makers, to offer Olly fans an iPhone 4 case that features Olly's alien characters. Olly's iPhone 4/4S case is based on Case-mate's Barely There case series and comes in three Olly style designs: Face Man, Olly's Army and Olly's World. We look at the Olly's World case for this review, though all three cases have the same form factor and features.

Design

The Olly?s World iPhone 4/4S case is very similar to the Case-mate Barely There case for the iPhone 4. It?s super slim and light, covering the back and sides of the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The plastic material is flexible and impact resistant. The case is extremely form fitting, yet it?s not too hard to put it on or take it off. Just slide on side of your iPhone 4 or 4S in the case, and push the phone into the other side. The top and bottom of the iPhone 4 are mostly exposed but all four corners are covered for absorbing shocks should you bump the phone on a hard surface or drop it. We liked the minimalistic design of Case-mate Barely There cases for many smartphone models, but if Olly cases want to attract younger iPhone users, it might have been a better idea to offer a bit more protection, such as covering the front edges so that the screen gets more protection when the phone is facing down on a table.

As with other Case-mate cases, the Olly?s World comes with a film protector for the front of the iPhone 4 and a complete installation kit. The case has shiny surface that shows off the Olly graphics very nicely; colors are bright and saturated, designs stand out.

Features

The Olly?s World iPhone 4/4S case shares similar features with Barely There case as well. It has a generous side cutout to give you easy access to the silence button and volume buttons. Since the top and bottom of the phone are mostly exposed, all your ports and buttons located there are wide open for access. The case also has a cutout on the back matching the shape and location of the rear camera and flash.

Conclusion

Incredibly adorable, the Olly?s World iPhone 4/4S case along with the other two designs in the series is attractive for young iPhone users and those who are young at heart. The case is super light and thin, easy to use with all necessary cutouts, and very form fitting. While we love Barely There cases for users who need protection for their iPhone 4 without much bulk, we would have preferred a case with more robust protections for younger iPhone 4 users.
