iPhone Game Review: Mad Chef
Reviewed by ninjackid

From developers Fours4ken Media, creators of hit iOS games such as N.Y. Zombies and Bug Heroes, comes Mad Chef, a casual game that appeals as much to the hardcore gamer as it does to the casual gamer...

Gameplay

Mad Chef is sort of a hybrid of a tycoon sim game and a pick-up-and play game.

You play as a Mad Chef, who has an obsession with throwing pointy things, such as knives. You start off playing in a Food Cart where the main goal is to tap various ingredients that fly across the screen according to your customer's request, the game doesn't take itself too seriously with humorous delicatessen such as Mustard Salad, or Rat Burger. Tapping various spices along with the recipes will give you an extra points bonus, as well as extra money. Hitting correct ingredients in a row increases your "Hit Meter" which increases your score. The better you do, and the less food you waste, you earn reputation, which will earn you more money while you're away from the game.

Also included is the fun Take Out mode, which is basically the same as other restaurant modes, only endless.

Money earned from playing can be uses to upgrade to bigger restaurants, power-ups, better recipes, to buy billboard to advertise your restaurants, or to upgrade the chef's helpers or his um... utensils...

Overall, Mad Chef is an addicting casual game with a lot of depth and fun polished gameplay, and oozes polish with fun little extras like your own house that gets decorated with awards and things as you unlock achievements, and even a guest appearance by some zombies!

Graphics & Sound

The graphics are bright and colorful, have a very cartoonish 3D look and fit the games "wacky" theme pretty well.

Mad Chef also features some fun quirky music that also fits the game's theme well along with good sound effects. iPod music is supported.

Conclusion

Mad Chef is a great casual game, that actually has a lot of depth and replay value for a pick-up-and-play game. Fours4ken Media has done it again! At only a buck, Mad Chef is a great addition to any gamer's collection.
