The HP Envy line sings its siren song to gamers, but how well does the latest Envy 15 with its Intel Core i7 CPU and new AMD Radeon HD 7690M graphics do with demanding current and older games? The answer is quite well, as you'll see in our video where we test Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the popular Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and the older but hungry FEAR 2. All games are running at 1920 x 1080 in our video, and we show you the settings we used for each game (generally high except Skyrim which is at medium).
The HP Envy 15 we test is the 3040nr model that's starting to appear in stores and is available as a quick ship model from HP. It weighs 5.8 lbs. and has a 1080p Radiance IPS display with a backlit keyboard. The laptop has an optical drive, Core i7-2760QM, 8 gigs of RAM and a 750 gig 7200 RPM hard drive. It sells for $1,299.
