Not too long ago we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, and now Samsung has two new smaller portable media players, the $199 Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 and the $149 Galaxy Player 3.6. Think of them as Android smartphones minus the phone. These are WiFi only personal media players that compete with the iPod Touch.
Both players have identical internals. They have a 1GHz CPU, 8 gigs of storage, a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 32 gigs, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and a GPS. They have front VGA cameras for video chat and a rear 2.0MP camera. If you're looking for something you can give the kids so they leave your smartphone alone, or you're still digging your feature phone but want some multimedia goodies, these are worth a look.
