The iLuv OrigamiFolio case is one of the thinnest cover cases we've seen for the new iPad 3rd gen. It fits the new iPad like a glove with its slim suit and provides a built-in stand that can prop up the iPad in different viewing angles. The OrigamiFolio comes in variety of colors including black, blue, pink and green.
The iLuv OrigamiFolio is a portfolio style case with a tablet holder on the right and a screen cover on the left. The back of the case has a thin player of treated plastic with a microfiber interior that won't scratch the iPad. Both the front cover and the bezel cover have an additional layer of thin but stiff inserts, which protect the screen effectively. The case can protect the new iPad against scratches and nicks from objects in your bag or backpack, but it won't give it much protection against drops or heavy bumps.
It's very easy to put your iPad in or take it out of the form fitting case, and the material feels smooth but not slippery in hand. The case adds very little bulk to your new iPad and weighs only 4.8 ounces.
The OrigamiFolio case gets its name largely thanks to the front cover that can fold into different shapes and provide different viewing angles for the iPad. The folding front cover can stand the iPad in both portrait and landscape orientation in several viewing angles for tasks such as typing with on-screen keyboard, viewing movies, using Facetime and more. The front cover can work on its own as well as together with a stop bar on the back of the case for additional viewing angles. The display cover also has built-in magnetic closure for auto turning on or shutting off the screen. The magnetic isn't very strong however, so be sure to connect the magnets when closing the cover in order to shut off the screen reliably.
The iLuv OrigamiFolio fits the new iPad very well and has all the necessary cutouts that are mostly centered on the ports and buttons. The case has separate cutouts for the Power button, the top mic and the audio out jack on the top of the iPad; while the audio jack out cutout isn't completely centered, you should have not trouble using any 3.5mm headphone with the iPad in the case. The side cutouts for the screen lock button and the volume rocker are perfectly aligned, and the rear camera cutout is just slighter off the center, but doesn't block the camera lens. The case has a cutout for the speaker grill and a cutout for the 30-pin connector. The 30-pin connector cutout lines up nicely, but the small strip on the edge of the case gets in the way when you use a sync/charge cable. You will likely need to hold the edge up when plug in the cable so that it doesn't catch the piece of the case.
For those of you who love thin and light cases, the iLuv OrigamiFolio cover fits very well and looks very nice. The case can protect against scratches and the front cover is fun to use. You can prop up your new iPad 3rd gen in variety of angles and the case also fits the iPad 2. We like the bright color selection and how easy it is to put the tablet in and take it out. Small imperfections include the cover doesn't shut securely every time, sync/charge cable can catch the small edge of the case above the 30-pin connector, and the list price isn't cheap.
