If you think your MacBook looks too clean and plain, you can do what MacSplaps wants you to do: slap some skin on your apple. MacSlaps makes skins for iPhone models and decals for iPad and MacBook notebook models. These thin vinyl pieces have matte finishes and non-residue adhesives, but the biggest attraction is the fun collection of images printed on the skins. We look at a couple of iPhone skins and some decals for the MacBook Pro in this review.

Design

For smaller devices such as iPhone models, MacSlaps covers the back of the device like a skin. With the iPhone 4S/4, the MacSlaps skin covers almost entire back of the phone but not quite to the edges. For larger devices such as the iPad and MacBook laptops, the MacSlaps pieces work more like decals than skins. They are there to create an image or make a statement, not to really protect the surface of your machine. The vinyl material is similar to many thin skin vinyl products you see on the market, and it can protect your iPhone 4S from scratches.

The biggest attraction for the MacSlaps skins and decals is the collection of designs for both large and small devices. There are some truly unique images that you don't find on any other skin products or decal stickers. We used the Nintendo Gameboy iPhone Skin and Super Mario MacBook Sticker to keep gaming theme in this review, but you will find some very cool iPhone skin designs and even cooler MacBook stickers. Here are some of the iPhone Skins:

Here are some of the MacBook Decals and Stickers:

Features

Very similar to many thin vinyl skins, the MacSlaps skins and decals use residue-free adhesive for their products. This means when you take the sticker off of your device, it will leave nothing behind. The thin vinyl has matte surface and is somewhat reusable. It's not as durable as the 3D like DomeSkin products, but if you are careful you can use the skins or decals a few times.

The iPhone 4S skin has cutouts for the rear camera and flash as well as the Apple logo. Since the skin doesn't cover the entire back, be sure to line up the camera and Apple logo cutouts first when putting on the skin. It's odd to see that the skin doesn't cover the entire back of the iPhone 4S or iPhone 4 though.

The MacBook decals center around the Apple logo and make it work together with the sticker. It's easy to line up the sticker by the logo first and let the rest of the decal fall naturally on the notebook cover. Some designs are easier to install than others, but most of them are not hard to do.

Conclusion

The MacSlaps skins and decals is a great way to add a fun image or splash of color to your Apple device and machine. It's easy to install and doesn't leave adhesive residue. The collection of images is unique and fun, and there are also some artsy pieces in the iPhone skin collection.
