SteelSeries makes gaming peripherals including controllers, headphones and more. The SteelSeries Flux Headset features power drivers, interchangeable outer plates, comfortable form and built-in mic. The most interesting feature is that the headset allows you to share music as each of the input outlet streams stereo. The SteelSeries Flux Headset comes in black or white and many color options for the ear cushions, cables and the outer plates. If you're looking for a headset for gaming, making calls and listening to music, the SteelSeries Flux Headset has one of the best quality audio we've heard on a medium sized headset.

The SteelSeries Flux Headset isn't huge compared to many today's over the ear style headphones. It's also foldable which makes it easy to carry them in your gear bag. The structure of the headset is strong with hard plastic, but the frame overhead is thick rubber that doesn't dig into your skin. The arm joins look to be sturdy and the arms can extend quite long to fit different sizes. Overall, the headset feels cozy but not cramping.

The SteelSeries Flux Headset has thick ear cushions that have SNDBlock material that can block most of the ambient noise to give you sound isolated from ambient background noise. The ear cushions feel extremely soft and let you wear the headset for long period of time without tiring out your ears. The ear cushions come in four colors and you can customize your headset with the color you prefer when order the headset. The outer plate also comes in matching four colors and the headset and the outer plates have built-in magnet to keep the cover on, so it's super easy to take the plate off and put it on.

The SteelSeries Flux Headset comes with two separate cables. They both have a built-in omni-directional mic and a button for call answer or end. One of them has a single 3.5mm plug and the other has separate line-in and line-out for working with PCs that have separate jacks for them. The cables are four and a half feet long and the built-in mics look to be robust. As with the ear cushions and outer plates, the cables also come in a variety of colors.

Audio Quality

The SteelSeries Flux Headset has impressive 40mm drivers and the sound through the headset is full and clear with wide range and powerful bass. The -38 dB headset has surprisingly good range that music sound not only full but balanced. The SNDBlack ear cushions help bring sound clarity out by blocking ambient noise and channel the headset audio through the powerful drivers and spacious sound chambers. The bass also sounds quite powerful, watching movies and playing games, you'll feel the explosions and FX thumping at the bass; and music mastered with strong bass also comes through nicely. The SteelSeries Flux Headset has high volume as well, and the sound doesn't blow up when the volume is turned up.

Unlike many mobile headsets on the market, the SteelSeries Flux Headset offers a cool and unique feature. It has audio pass through on each of the earcups, this means you can plug your audio into one earcup to stream audio into the headset, and then plug another audio cable into the other earcup and listen in on that audio. This means two people can listen in on the same audio at the same time. It's a really neat feature for two people to watch a movie together or when you want to share a song with a friend.

Both cables that come with the SteelSeries Flux Headset have built-in mic and they work fine for multiplayer gaming chat and making mobile calls. The PC cable has an in-line mic with sliding mute switch for gaming and a separate mic line in case your PC still has two jacks for audio in and out. The mobile cable has a built-in mic with a call answer and end button.

The compact SteelSeries Flux Headset has surprisingly big sound with strong bass. It may be a very portable headset, especially when you fold it up, but the headset has the comfort of much larger body thanks to the soft ear cushions and well-designed frame. The SteelSeries Flux Headset strikes a balance between great audio and great portability. If you're looking for something for the airplane and your trip, the SteelSeries Flux Headset gives excellent audio, loud volume, comfort and lets you make voice calls and video chats.
