Which would be better or are they about equal? Both are currently 99 cents with 2 year contract ATT.

Those two are nearly identical for features, except the Pantech has a higher res rear camera. Honestly, I'd check them both out in the store and see which one you like the look and feel of since they're so similar in terms of quality and features.

On your youtube video review of the 2 phones it seems that the LG had much faster download speeds, 35-38Mb compaired to 25-28Mb for the Pantech. Is this a consistant difference?

Data speeds vary by location and can change with time as well. It all depends on backhaul and demand on AT&T's network in a given area. So look for a consensus among reviews. That said, anything at 25Mbps is much faster than many folks' home broadband connections and I wouldn't worry too much. If it's an average of 12Mbps vs. 25 to 35Mbps, then I'd be concerned.
