iPad mini Case Review: Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case Cover and Flip Stand Review

Editor's Ratings (1-5): 4

What's Hot: Very affordable, comes in 10 colors, form fitting and has built-in stand and hand strap.

What's Not: Adds some bulk to the slim tablet, industrial chemical treatment smell is quite strong.

The Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case is one of the most affordable manmade leather cases we've seen so far. It's well built, fits the tablet well and it comes in amazing number of colors. The case is very protective and very easy to use.

The Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case is a portfolio style case with a tablet pocket on the right and a front cover on the left. The tablet holder is form fitting and side loading. It's very easy to slide the iPad mini into the pocket and close it securely with the hidden Velcro strip behind the closure tab. Both the front cover and the tablet pocket have stiff inserts that help prevent any serious nicks or pokes to the surface of the tablet when you store it in a bag with keys and other things. The case has soft lining that treats the iPad mini well.

The PU leather has medium grain finish and it isn't slippery in hand. The strong inserts do give the case more bulk in this portfolio style case, but that's the price you pay for protecting the entire tablet from scratches, drops and bumps. The case comes in 10 color options and with the exception of the distressed brown option they all have white stitching. It doesn't look jarring on Baby Blue or pink, but it does on the black case. The manmade material looks sturdy but it has strong chemical odor that borders on offensive. The smell might lose its strength overtime, but it might turn some folks off if they're sensitive to that smell.

The Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case is a very functional case thanks to all the cutouts to ports and buttons. The case has a side cutout that exposes the silence button and the volume buttons nicely. The top cutouts give you easy access to the power button and audio jack, and there is a stylus holder that you can store a small capacitive stylus in, and the mic hole cutout is behind the stylus holder. The bottom cutouts leave speaker grills and Lightning port exposed. The back cutout gives the camera lens the full view.

The Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case comes with both a built-in stand and a hand strap. The stand works in landscape mode and provides two viewing angles: a more upright one for media watching and video chatting and a flatter position for using the on-screen keyboard. The hand strap is well made and easy to use when you need to handle the iPad mini one handed. And the front cover also has auto wake and sleep feature.

The Snugg iPad mini PU Leather Case offers most features of comfort for the tablet users including a built-in stand, a hand strap and all the cutouts needed to use the tablet without taking it out of the case. The case is very protective of the entire tablet and comes in many color options, and it's affordable. Other than the obvious manmade leather look and some bulk it adds to the slim tablet, the only other complain we have is the strong chemical smell.

Price: $24.99 for black; $29.99 for other colors
