Laptop Case Review: Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve for MacBook Air Review
      #46734 - 07/21/14 01:43 PM

Inateck has recently released a series of felt sleeve cases for the MacBook laptop models including the 13" and 11" Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. These felt laptop bags come in slightly different designs and all cases come in gray except the MP1301 case that comes in green. The Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve is designed to store 13" and 11" MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, though it's a bit too shallow for the entire 13" MacBook Air to fit in. The case feels very soft in hand and offers several extra exterior pockets for you to store earbuds, an iPhone and a e-reader.

Design

The Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve protects your notebook from scratches, bumps and nicks in your daily life. The felt exterior feels warm and soft, and the flannel interior lining is kind to the laptop's surface and absorbs some shock. The sleeve case has straight hem with strong stitching, but no extra space at the bottom of the sleeve. This means the MacBook Air with its sliver thin front edge fits better in the sleeve than the MacBook Pro; but even then, the case is a about 0.4" short of covering the entire MacBook Air 13. We tested 11" and 12" laptops and tablets, and found all fit in the sleeve nicely. The Inateck sleeve has a strip of Velcro hidden under a faux leather tab that functions as closure tab.

Outside the main laptop compartment, the Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve has a long front pocket that you can store paper, an e-book reader or keys, and two smaller pockets on the back that allows you to store earbuds, an iPhone or other smaller items. The long front pocket is roomy but the small back pockets can't store bulky items. An iPhone 5s in a bulky case might not fit in one of the back pockets.

Features

The Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve comes with an extra pouch that's large enough for a wallet, or an iPhone in a bulky case, or a slim point and shoot digicam, or your MacBook laptop's power charger or mouse. The pouch is made with the same felt material without the flannel lining, and it has an elastic strap that shuts the pouch securely. The pouch isn't very long though, and it won't fit a smartphone larger than 5" comfortably.

Conclusion

The Inateck MP1300 Felt Sleeve for MacBook laptops is a simply designed and slim bag that's also very lightweight. It prevents scratches and can take some shock and bump force. The case is well made with sturdy material and strong stitching, and comes with extra pockets to store accessories for your laptop. We like the extra pouch that lets you carry power charger or mouse without making the main sleeve bulkier. But the sleeve is just ever so slightly too short to store the 13" MacBook Air comfortably inside.

What's Not: The sleeve is a bit too short, dry clean only.
