HTC One M8 for Windows vs. Nokia Lumia Icon Smackdown Comparison
      #46918 - 08/31/14 04:37 PM

It used to be if you wanted the best Windows Phone money could buy, it was a Nokia Lumia. Nokia's smartphone division, now owned by Microsoft, made phones with the fastest CPUs, best cameras and generally stunning designs at the high end. The Nokia Lumia Icon, known as the Lumia 930 overseas, is the company's flagship 5" full HD smartphone with a superb 20 megapixel camera, curvy polycarbonate and metal-framed body and a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU. In the US it's exclusive to Verizon Wireless.

But wait, there's a new kid on the block, also exclusive to Verizon, but it will soon be coming to T-Mobile and AT&T. It's the HTC One M8 for Windows, and it's the exact same hardware found in the HTC One M8 Android flagship, but it's running Windows Phone 8.1.1. It too has a full HD display, a very slightly newer and faster Snapdragon 801 CPU and 32 gigs of storage like the Icon. But it brings a few cool features like that unibody aluminum body, tap to wake, and a microSD card slot.

The Lumia Icon and Lumia 930 fight back with a superior rear 20 MP camera vs. the 4MP equivalent duo camera on the One M8 for Windows. But the HTC has a better front camera that's 5MP vs. 2MP. I suspect many of you care more about rear camera quality, but for those who video chat frequently or are addicted to selfies, the better front camera has its appeal. The Lumia supports wireless charging, while the HTC doesn't, and some may prefer its AMOLED display with colors that pop and deeper blacks.

There's plenty more to cover, so watch our HTC One M8 for Windows vs. Nokia Lumia Icon Comparison Smackdown Video.
