Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini Battery Review
      #47088 - 09/30/14 07:06 PM

For those who aren't into the art of manga, Danbo is a cardboard robot character in Yotsuba&! manga. The Danboard portable battery borrows the Danbo's look and turns the Danboard into a portable battery charger for mobile devices. The Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini is Cheero's latest battery that's smaller than the original Danboard robot and it doesn't come with the toy body. The Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini has a built-in rechargeable battery that's 6000mAh in capacity, and it can charge two devices simultaneously.

Design

Though the Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini might have the look of a cardboard box, it's made with sturdy plastic casing that has a matted surface. The battery block is quite small, measuring 1.34 x 1.89 x 2.91 inches and it weighs 4.94 ounces. The cute block keeps the robotic design in two flashing eyes that indicate power levels. The eyes flash red when the power is low and orange and yellow when it's charging. The lights turn solid yellow when the power is fully charged. The little triangle under the eyes hides a power button that lets you check the power level and turn on the battery to charge devices.

The Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini offers two USB output port on one side that can charge two devices at the same time and one of them can be a tablet. The micro USB recharge port lives on the opposite side. The Danboard mini doesn't come with the toy figure of the Power Plus Danboard's body nor in as many playful colors, it does come with a USB charging cable and a cloth carrying pouch.

Features

The Danboard mini houses a 3.7V Lithium Ion battery that's 6000mAh in capacity. The small battery can charge the iPhone 6 twice from 10% to full and the iPad Air to 50% from empty. The battery has decent charging speed. It can fill up an iPhone 6 battery in less than 3 hours. The two 5V USB output ports include a 1A port and a 2.1A port, and you can use both ports at the same time to charge a phone and a tablet.

The Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini has built-in short circuit, overheating and over charging protection and it'll automatically stop charging when the mobile devices are fully charged. The battery has 300 recharging cycles and it takes overnight recharging from empty to full via the micro USB recharge port. The flashing eyes of the Danbo when the battery is charging would lend this a good gift for upcoming Halloween and for kids who need a small battery for their phone, digital camera or other mobile gadgets.

Conclusion

A portable battery disguised as a toy robot. The Cheero Power Plus Danboard Mini is a handy little battery that can charge your smartphone twice and top up your large tablet. The batter is easy to carry for trips or daily commute to work or school, and it can juice up two devices at the same time. If you need something bigger, especially if your tablet needs charging often, look at the Danboard Power Plus with its 10400mAh power in many color options.
